This Friday is Aged Care Employee Day and this year we are saying Thanks for caring- to celebrate and honour the tireless and dedicated staff across our industry particularly through the challenges the COVID-19 pandemic has provided in the way we provide care to our clients.

Just as it takes a village to raise a child, it takes an incredible team of staff with many talents to coordinate and facilitate the many types of services we offer our clients at Be. From Mel at the front desk in our head office, to Jane our North Brisbane Community Coordinator hosting Ageless Grace via Facebook live to Kathryn in Townsville for never forgetting a client’s birthday.

We say a BIG #thanksforcaring to our team at Be of 220 staff and over 200 volunteers that are dedicated to helping our clients make their lives the best they can Be.

Alicia from our care team in Mackay shared with us her love for her role as a personal care assistant. Alicia has worked in the aged care industry for many years, originally in Sydney. She now lives in Mackay and provides care for three clients.

Alicia said, “I love the work that I do, and I really enjoy spending time with our clients getting to know them.”

Acknowledging that many of our clients don’t get to see their families as often as they would like or their families live further away, she shares, “they very much rely on my visit to have a connection to the community. One of our clients Sybil is 90 years old and to see her smile after one of our visits for hot chocolate to a local café is so warming.”

Kristy from our North Brisbane Care team has been with our organisation for over a year after completing her studies once her youngest started school. “I love being able to help people live independently in their homes and I feel like I am making such a difference to their lives. It’s such a feel good job!” shared Kristy.
