Mind and Motion with Be
December 15, 2020

You don’t have to be an exercise junkie or a Tai Chi master to reap the benefits of a holistic wellbeing program. In fact, focusing on key areas of a combined mind and body approach to a considered exercise program can improve mobility and wellbeing.
Earlier this month our Sunshine Coast team kicked off a brand new wellbeing program, Mind & Motion, developed in partnership by The Allied Health Team and Be’s Community and Wellbeing Program Architect Dr Amanda Clacy.
The ten-week program has been created by Occupational Therapist Carol Tims and Exercise Physiologist Brad Duff from The Allied Health Team. “The program is based on the current American College of Sports Medicine guidelines for exercise for older adults and supporting evidence aligning with age-appropriate goals of increasing mobility, falls prevention, and moving for life,” said Brad Duff from The Allied Health Team.
Be’s Community and Wellbeing Program Architect Dr Amanda Clacy said “The program brings together clients for social and wellbeing support, fostering new client friendships and supporting clients to build skills to support healthier habits for aging.”
The program will cover overlapping elements of mobility, physical strength, mindfulness, healthy sleep, eating well and developing a varied routine of activities. “Each week will cover a new theme and offer participants an opportunity to further build their skills and feel a sense of self-satisfaction and achievement,” said Dr Clacy.
Be and The Allied Health Team are looking forward to bringing this program to life for Sunshine Coast clients and hope to implement the program into more regions next year. Brad Duff is enthusiastic about the program, saying, “It’s never too late to start exercising and feeling good. We can’t wait to meet you and have some fun!”
