This year for International Women’s Day the theme is ‘Each for equal’ and this explores how we can all collectively forge equality for women- sooner and faster. Thankfully gains have been made, but there’s still a great deal to achieve on many fronts.

Individually, we’re all responsible for our own thoughts and actions – all day, every day.

We can actively choose to challenge stereotypes, fight bias, broaden perceptions, improve situations and celebrate women’s achievements.

At ComLink we are grateful to have an amazing team of women working in our head office, regional offices, services and as volunteers. However, equality is not just a women’s issue, it’s a business issue. Gender equality is essential for economies and communities to thrive. A gender equal world can be healthier, wealthier and more harmonious – so what’s not great about that?

We recently had a chat to a variety of women connected with ComLink about what International Women’s Day means to them. We discovered a passion and enthusiasm for supporting women and positively contributing to gender equality.

Sharon Davis:
“Equality for women is now more important than ever. I had a long career in a male dominated industry, and I am proud of my contributions of advocating for women in my team and forging policy changes to support flexible working arrangements and entitlements.”

Berneice Mortimer:
“You’re never too old to challenge this stereotype or change your perspective. We need to be supporting women to achieve whatever they set their minds too. There are some things men are naturally good and this is also the same for women. But I’m a big believer that women can do anything men can do!”

Hett Warrell:
“Each for equal just makes sense! Why can’t women be equal?”

Kim and Renee:
“It’s time for equality and we will stand up and empower women.”

Collectively, we can make change happen. Collectively, we can each help to create a gender equal world.  #EachforEqual.
